I juice them! And funnily enough, she watches me prepare (wash/cut) the produce and she feeds the vegetables (that she dare don’t touch on a plate), through the juicer and then happily drinks the bright green coloured goodness straight from the juicer container.
Kids. Go figure.
So, if I want to get vegetables into my kid it is essential I juice. Which is okay really but I do get tired of the mess and sometimes it’d be easier to just throw a salad at her rather than do the whole juice routine every couple of days.
I don’t juice as much as I would like to but twice a week is better than never right? These two juices are my favourite. Olivia will drink any juice so long as it has ginger in it. It literally will burn my throat but she happily sips a full cups worth of it without flinching.
4 leaves of kale, just rip off the hard stems first
1 celery stalk
3 green apples
ginger to taste
ORANGE JUICE RECIPE
7 small-medium carrots
3 apples (I used green)
large handful of green beans
ginger to taste
Juices are best consumed immediately but I make sure to drink mine within 2 days. Olivia won’t drink them cold, so experiment with your own kids or yourself (I too prefer them at room temp).
Remember to try to juice organic produce or at best locally grown. Scrub them before prepping.
There’s no right or wrong with juicing I reckon, just experiment with flavours. Sometimes I’ll add beetroot to the “orange juice” recipe above. Get creative!
Someone tell me that she will eventually eat vegetables?
Or tell me your fave juice recipe!
