On May 25th I birthed a beautiful and healthy baby girl in the water at home at 7:16AM. Wow what a magical experience it was and how fast the past 2 weeks have gone!
We named her Isla. Neither of our children have middle names. She was covered in vernix, had her (short!) cord looped around her neck and has the sweetest little moon face.
Labour was fast and intense, but beautiful. I didn’t feel scared or out of control once. I felt empowered, beautiful, strong and calm. I felt connected to my body, Mother Earth and my baby the whole time. My midwife Jo arrived with less than an hour to spare and Olivia had to be woken when baby moved down the birth canal and I felt that familiar pressure and undeniable urge to bear down. She witnessed her sister be born, and cut the cord herself. We’ve had some attitude shifts in the first week which was to be expected – I really feel for her. She’s only 3 and a half, I mean, what a major event in her short little life! She’s over the moon about Isla, but struggled with our attention being divided. As did I… I was in tears every day for the first week, and felt a lot of anxiety. Isla is a dream little baby. Very serious and intense, yet feels very “old soul” – we’ve met before… She’s calm and peaceful. And a Gemini!
Thank you for all the congratulations and love on my social media xx
